Newsletter Stays on Schedule Despite Staff Reduction
After a critical communications employee left a client company, we
helped the show go on.
Challenge
The in-house writer at this $3.4 billion manufacturer had departed to
pursue other interests. There was no one on staff to write the client's
internal newsletter.
Meanwhile, the company's 6,700 employees continued to generate a steady
stream of story ideas -- all of which needed writing and editing.
This monthly house organ featured top-notch writing, graphics and
production values. It was the voice of the company and the staff looked
forward to each issue. The client was anxious to maintain its schedule.
Solution
Access Consulting stepped in. Every month for six months, we produced
12-14 stories for the newsletter. We interviewed client personnel all
over the world, wrote the text, composed selected photographs for each
story and penned their captions, and worked with the client and their
design firm on final edits.
In addition, we often scouted stories for publication.
By taking over so much of the newsletter's creation, Access Consulting
gave company executives plenty of time to search for the right new hire.
When they selected one, we smoothly turned over all writing assignments.
Results
The client was pleased with our work on this project. With our support,
the client:
• Weathered a period of lean internal resources
• Maintained the newsletter's schedule and standards
• Satisfied the needs of company managers and staff
• Was free to take as long as they needed to find the best new staff
writer
• Found in Access Consulting a resource they could call in a pinch.
